MORE THAN 1000 PEOPLE SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR AUSTRALIA’S FIRST MULTI-GENERATIONAL HEALTHCARE PRECINCT

Over the weekend of February 4 and 5, TLC invited the community to experience Australia’s first multi-generational healthcare precinct, firsthand.

TLC Healthcare CEO, Lou Pascuzzi says there has never been such overwhelming interest in healthcare services in the history of TLC. “This is a testament to our integrated model of healthcare. It’s what local communities need, and we’re delivering it.

“I’ve had calls from stakeholders, the media, and politicians, all saying how incredibly valuable it is to see co-located healthcare services delivered this way.

“Of the 1000-plus people through our doors over the weekend, 20% were interested in aged care, 25% in our medical centre, 30% in early learning, 63% in our gym and pool, and over 30% in The Village Café. Incredibly, over 25% of the people we welcomed to the precinct came to see everything on offer, which supports the model being something that resonates with people and meets their needs.

“We had something for everyone. Live entertainment in the Atrium, a grazing table, drinks and a coffee cart for visitors, face painting for the kids, and the FOXFM Black Thunders with giveaways. We also did some fun live crosses with 3AW to let people know how the day was going and remind them where to find us. Overall, we couldn’t be prouder about bringing these services to Mordialloc. And we can’t wait for our early learning centre to open, as this is when our intergenerational program between residents of Whitewater and TLC Early Learning will kick off, promising an incredibly powerful link between young children and older people”, Pascuzzi said.

Last week, the precinct warmly welcomed its first aged care resident, Norma Fisher, to TLC Whitewater. Growing up in Hamilton, Victoria, Norma trained as a midwife in Hobart, was an intensive care nurse in Melbourne for many years, and was an aged care nurse later in Hobart. Married to her husband Ron for 61 years, they had three children and now have are eight grandchildren.

A former resident at TLC Aged Care Noble Gardens, Mrs Fisher’s daughter said “the staff at Noble Gardens probably saved her life in December when they acted promptly to illness and have nursed her back to being able to walk in the door of her new home at Whitewater this week, again, looking younger and more confident. She loves her new home and I am overwhelmed with the love and support we have received. We couldn’t be happier.”

TLC Healthcare, Mordialloc also welcomed its first family to TLC Health Clubs. The Donlons, locals who live only steps away from the facility, were excited to be the first family to join the club and look forward to continuing their health and fitness journey.

Australia’s first multi-generational healthcare precinct added little Bowie to the soon-to-open early learning centre’s enquiry list. Bowie, who’s Mum, Lorraine, and Dad, Paul, toured TLC Early Learning on the open day weekend, was excited at the prospect of being one of 118 children at TLC Early Learning. Accepting children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age, 4-month-old Bowie seemed enamored with the idea of becoming a regular.

Local neighborhood foodies were at the ready for The Village Café, which opened as part of the precinct’s open-day weekend and were thrilled to welcome Stacey (and her Greyhound) as the very first customers. Mr. Pascuzzi said The Village Café is another way TLC helps bring the local community together.

“The menu is exceptionally well priced and caters to everyone. There’s a Grab and Go fridge at the front, so if you’ve dropped your kids off at early learning, been to the medical centre, or used any of our services, you can pick something up on the way home. Or, if you’ve been to the gym, try a smoothie or sit down for an incredible breakfast or lunch made with care, attention to detail, and the best seasonal ingredients at a price that will bring you back.

We’ve created an atmosphere that makes you want to linger, with a bespoke ceiling artwork installation, comfortable furniture, and staff that’ll make you feel welcome, or, as we say, “one of the tribe.” The outdoor terrace with tranquil views overlooking the park is proving very popular with customers and their four-legged friends, too. The café really is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, as is the entire healthcare precinct. The feedback from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive”, Pascuzzi said.

And to top it off, TLC Healthcare Mordialloc will launch a free three-month concert series called “Live at The Atrium” on 2 March 2023, kicking off with Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows. Other acts to perform in The Atrium include Wendy Matthews, Mahalia Barnes and Michael Spiby. Capacity will be limited to just 100 people with a maximum of 2 tickets per person.

“This our way of thanking the local Mordialloc community for choosing our services, and introducing other locals to what’s on offer at Australia’s first multi-generational healthcare precinct”, said Pascuzzi.

All services at TLC Healthcare, Mordialloc are now open, excluding TLC Early Learning which will open soon.
TLC operates residential aged care homes, medical and early learning centres, health clubs, registered training facilities and a commercial café across Melbourne and Geelong.
